| PAACT Biography The founder, a Mr. Lloyd Ney had been diagnosed in 1983 as having latestage D prostate cancer. The only treatments offered to him were radicalprostatectomy or external beam radiation. He chose radiation. After over 30radiation treatments, X-rays revealed 31 bone lesions that were not there priorto radiation. His physician told him he was terminal and had 3 to 6 months tolive. Through what might be construed as divine intervention a friend sent hima newspaper article about a Dr. Labrie and his work with a P C treatment calledCombination Hormonal Therapy in Quebec City, Canada. Mr. Ney flew to QuebecCity, was put on CHT by Dr. Labrie and after 2 years was declared cancer free. Mr. Ney's experience with the poor quality of care offered to PC patients in the U.S. at that time prompted him to start the organization he called PAACT(Patient Advocates For Advanced Cancer Treatments), that is dedicated to informing PC patients about all the available treatment options. Established in 1984 as an individual enterprise PAACT was granted tax exempt status in 1988 in accordance with the provisions of section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. PAACT and PAACT-PCOG (Prostate Cancer Oncology Group, composed of over 75-multi-disciplinary physicians, local and abroad) Maintain constant research of medical documents and clinical studies on the most advanced methods of detection, diagnostic procedures, evaluation and treatments for PC and is committed to furnishing patients, physicians and advocates with the results of these studies.
