In 2007, PAACT celebrates 23 years of providing reliable, unbiased information and support for prostate cancer patients, survivors and their doctors, companions and families.

PAACT serves men who are newly diagnosed, dealing with recurrent, or metastatic or advanced Prostate Cancer disease.

As a small dedicated not-for-profit organization, we appeal to our members for support. In the absence of governmental, institutional or pharmaceutical funding, our organization is dependent upon support of the friends, family members, doctors and advocates of PAACT. Your contribution is tax-deductible under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, tax payer ID 38-2763817, and may be made in several ways:

In your will

Many who are concerned about preserving current income but still want to make a special gift to PAACT decide to remember us in their wills. By making a bequest (a gift in your will), you can help support PAACT for years to come. In addition, such gifts can reduce estate taxes. Please consult your attorney and financial advisors as appropriate. You might consider giving specific property (such as real estate), a specific dollar amount or a percent of your estate.

Recommended bequest language:

“I give, devise and bequeath to PAACT Inc. (Patient Advocates for Advanced Cancer Treatments, Inc.), a Michigan charitable corporation located in Grand Rapids, Michigan the sum of _____dollars ($_____) (or percent of the residue of my estate) or (other personal or real property appropriately described) to help with the continuation of not-for-profit work by PAACT for Prostate Cancer victims and families.

Matching Gifts

Many employers have matching-gift programs through which your generosity to PAACT can be multiplied. As a not-for-profit charitable organization, PAACT is eligible for many matching-gift programs of corporations, foundations and other organizations.

United Way

If you contribute to a local United Way campaign through payroll deduction, your local United Way Chapter may allow you to direct your contribution to an organization such as PAACT, Inc.

Stocks and other property

Gifts of appreciated securities offer tax advantages including forgiveness of the tax on capital gain and an income tax charitable deduction for the fair market value of the securities. You can also make gifts of property such as real estate, life insurance, retirement accounts, and works of art, jewelry and valued collections. These gifts provide tax advantages and may require independent appraisals to meet Internal Revenue Service (IRS) guidelines.

In memory or in honor of, anniversary, birthday, etc.

Any gift can be made in memory or honor of a friend or loved one, or for a special occasion such as an anniversary, birthday or event. By supporting PAACT’s work, such thoughtful gifts can help educate people today and in the future about Prostate Cancer. When making your gift, please indicate the name of the person you wish to honor and provide a mailing address as appropriate on the giving form or in a short note along with your check, money order or credit card information addressed to PAACT, Inc. We will be honored to send a notification of your generous remembrance to the individual or individuals memorialized or honored (gift amount is not disclosed).

Obituary Information

PAACT, Inc. can help you include memorial gift information in obituaries. (Donation envelopes can be provided per request.) Sample sentences include:

• The family requests that memorial gifts be forwarded to PAACT, Inc. Prostate Cancer Communication newsletter and Educational Program, 1143 Parmelee Ave NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49504.

• Gifts in memory of Mr. Smith can be made to PAACT, Inc. Prostate Cancer Communication newsletter and Educational Program.

Receipts

To confirm that we receive your gift and for tax purposes, we will send you a letter documenting the gift amount given to PAACT. Sometimes receipts are delayed in mailing, due to a certain number of receipts needed to mail at one time.

Acknowledgement Letters to Families

PAACT will be honored to send a notification of your generous gift made in memory or honor of a friend or loved one, or for a special occasion such as an anniversary, birthday or event.

Acknowledgement of gift in Prostate Cancer Communication newsletter

PAACT will acknowledge any gift to its organization by publishing the information about the gift in our quarterly newsletter.
